Gregor Schup Ried Schwaben Rotgipfler 2016
A rare single-vineyard Rotgipfler of remarkable depth and maturity, showcasing the exceptional ageing potential of Austria's flagship indigenous white grape.
Tasting Notes
Deep golden yellow in colour. The bouquet is intense and beautifully evolved, revealing aromas of cooked rhubarb, ripe pear, orange peel, blossom honey, gooseberry and sugar snap peas, layered with smoky, buttery and toasted almond notes. On the palate, the wine is powerful and concentrated, combining a rich, creamy texture with vibrant fruit, subtle floral nuances and a distinctive mineral backbone. Gentle oxidative complexity, hints of caramel, roasted nuts and a touch of fresh herbs lead to an exceptionally long, elegant finish. Matured in large Austrian oak casks, the wood provides texture and complexity without overpowering the fruit.
