Château de Lavernette
Located in Leynes, at the crossroads of southern Burgundy and northern Beaujolais, Château de Lavernette is a historic family estate with 13 generations of winegrowing behind it. Today the domaine is led by Xavier and Kerrie de Boissieu, who have continued the family tradition with a strong focus on organic and biodynamic viticulture, careful vineyard work and wines that express their individual sites with clarity and freshness.
The estate is particularly unusual because its vineyards span both Beaujolais and Burgundy. Gamay thrives on the granitic soils of Leynes and Saint-Amour, producing vibrant reds with red and black fruit, florality, spice and fine tannins. Chardonnay is equally important, giving everything from mineral Beaujolais Blanc to more structured Pouilly-Fuissé, including Maison du Villard, Vers Châne and the Cuvée Jean-Jacques de Boissieu. The domaine also produces distinctive sparkling wines and more experimental cuvées such as Le Bleu.
The style of Château de Lavernette is defined by purity, energy and terroir rather than excessive extraction or oak. Across the range, the wines combine generous fruit with natural freshness, elegant texture and a clear mineral character. From supple Beaujolais and refined Saint-Amour to gastronomic Pouilly-Fuissé and Brut Nature sparkling wines, Lavernette offers a particularly complete expression of this meeting point between Beaujolais and the Mâconnais. The Winesbio range currently reflects that breadth, covering Gamay, Chardonnay, sparkling and skin-contact styles from the domaine.
