Domaine Roc des Anges Reliefs 2023
A profound, mineral Roussillon red built around old-vine Carignan, combining ripe black fruit, tapenade and Mediterranean herbs with smoky schist character, fine tannins and remarkable freshness — awarded 92/100 by Bettane+Desseauve.
🍇 About the wine
Domaine Roc des Anges Reliefs 2023 is one of the domaine’s more structured red cuvées, produced on the north-facing slopes of Força Réal near Montner in the Roussillon. Old-vine Carignan forms the backbone of the blend, complemented by Grenache Noir and Syrah. The vines grow on shallow, ancient schist soils with sandy-silty topsoil, a naturally low-yielding terroir that gives the wine concentration without heaviness.
The grapes are harvested by hand and vinified with indigenous yeasts, using whole berries and whole bunches. Fermentation and ageing take place in concrete, with approximately nine months of élevage preserving purity of fruit, mineral tension and the wine’s fine-grained structure.

🍷 Tasting notes
Appearance: Deep ruby with violet reflections.
Nose: Blackberry and cassis with tapenade, sweet spice, garrigue and a subtle smoky mineral note from the schist.
Palate: Dense yet poised, with generous dark fruit, savoury herbs and a mineral, saline backbone. The tannins are fine and structured, balanced by excellent freshness.
Finish: Long, precise and savoury, with lingering black fruit, spice and stony minerality.
🍽️ Food pairing
Excellent with roast duck, lamb shoulder, grilled beef, game, mushroom dishes, slow-cooked meats and mature hard cheeses. Its combination of depth and freshness also makes it a strong match for Mediterranean cuisine with herbs and roasted vegetables.
