Italy has 20 wine regions, each producing wines with distinct characteristics due to variations in climate, geography, and local grape varieties. Some of the most famous regions include: Tuscany (Toscana) known for Chianti, Brunello di Montalcino, and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano - Piedmont (Piemonte) home to Barolo, Barbaresco, and Barbera - Veneto famous for Prosecco, Amarone, and Valpolicella - Sicily (Sicilia) known for Nero d’Avola and Marsala - Puglia produces Primitivo and Negroamaro - Lombardy (Lombardia) known for sparkling wines, especially Franciacorta.
