Discover a rare white from the heights of the Ribera del Duero: the Vetusta Albillo Mayor 2024.

Crafted from 100% Albillo Mayor — an almost-lost indigenous variety from the region that Vetusta has rescued and nurtured. Grown on old-vine plots, hand-harvested and gently vinified, this wine is fermented and aged in large 500-litre oak barrels to preserve freshness, complexity and texture. Limited production, compelling story and gastronomic character make this a standout white alternative for the serious wine lover.

🥂 Tasting Notes

Vintage & Region: 2024, Ribera del Duero DO, Spain.
Grape & Vinification: 100% Albillo Mayor from old vines; low yields (~50% press-yield) due to the variety’s scarcity. Pressed and fermented at 15 °C in 500-litre barrels, aged on lees for ~8 months before careful racking.
Appearance: Bright pale gold with good clarity and a slight sheen.
Aroma: Elegant and expressive — fresh white fruits (ripe pear), white blossoms (orange-blossom/azahar), subtle hints of honey and gentle oak/lees influence.
Palate: Smooth and silky on the entry, with a balance of creamy texture and invigorating acidity. Fruit flavours echo the nose — pear, apple — plus a hint of honeyed richness. The finish is notable for its length, crisp acid line and lingering freshness.
Finish: Long and clean, with a subtle undercurrent of lees-derived complexity and a fresh, inviting aftertaste that beckons another sip.
Food Pairing: Ideal with seafood (especially shellfish), grilled white fish, sushi, light risotto, or as an elegant aperitif. Serve chilled at about 8-10 °C for best balance.
Ageing Potential: Although enjoyable now thanks to its freshness and texture, the quality of the vine material and barrel contact suggest it will evolve gracefully over 3-5 years, developing further complexity.
