The vineyards of Masiero are situated between Vicenza and Verona uphill between 300 and 500m. They produce natural wines following a biodynamic approach.

The beginning

When we talk about wine, we talk first of all about the territory; we talk about the work and sacrifice of men and women who truly believe that agriculture can save the land.
Every winemaker has a special bond with their territory, perhaps difficult to describe in words, but easy to capture in the authentic aromas and flavors of wine. In the early 2000s, the meeting with passionate winemakers and the deep bond with this land led Gianfranco to plant the first row of Merlot; from what was initially supposed to be a game, a pastime, Verdugo was born, a product that has always shown with sincerity and authenticity the peculiarities of the volcanic soil from which it is born and the passion with which an entire family dedicates itself to this work.

The Project

Thus began a period of study and experimentation for Gianfranco, which gradually involved first his wife Francesca and then his daughter Giulia. Together in 2015 they decided to start a new project to recover an old vineyard located on the nearby hill of Sant'Urbano, where the unique substrate in which marl and volcanic rock mix immediately intrigued them, making them fall in love with the old varieties of their territory: from the coppery Pinot Grigio to the Garganega which here was called “Dorona”, not to mention the red Tai, a peculiarity of Vicenza that has lived on this hill for more than a hundred years.
