Region Jura
The happy marriage of a unique vineyard. Small in size, but great in its exceptional diversity, the Jura vineyards stretch over 80 kilometers along the Revermont.
The Jura vineyard dates back to antiquity. In the 19th century, before the phylloxera crisis, it had more than 40 grape varieties on 20,000 hectares. In addition to the climate, the subsoil and the grape varieties, the know-how of the winegrowers, based on the preservation of traditional cultural and oenological practices, takes a preponderant part here in the choices of vinification and maturing, with an omnipresent terroir. Diversity is undoubtedly what best characterizes the Jura vineyard. On an area of just 1850 hectares, there are no less than 4 geographical Appellations of Origin: Arbois, Côtes du Jura, l'Etoile, Château-Chalon and 3 AOC products: Macvin du Jura, Crémant du Jura and Marc of the Jura. The wines are made from 5 grape varieties: Chardonnay and Savagnin for the whites and Poulsard, Trousseau and Pinot Noir for the reds. About 200 professional farms with varied profiles produce this beautiful range of red and rosé wines, white wines and yellow wine for still wines, but also sparkling wines (Crémant du Jura), sweet wines (Vin de Paille), mistelles (Macvin du Jura), marcs and other fines which constitute the widest range that a vineyard can offer. Character, richness and diversity, generosity and typicality… qualifiers that admirably define Jura wines.
