The duras clusters are more or less large with medium berries and little juice. This grape variety particularly likes poor, sandy and limestone soils. Good exposure to the sun is important for its good maturity. Susceptible to disease but productive, Duras is often blended with Braucol, Merlot or Syrah.
Duras produces red wines with a higher alcohol content than other grape varieties, with deep color, fine tannins and peppery aromas. It is part of the AOC Côtes-de-Millau, Gaillac and Vins-d'Estaing grape varieties. Constantly growing, its production area now reaches more than a thousand hectares.
