It's not a white, it's not rosé and it's certainly not red. Marcello Colfondo was born after the vintage 2014, when summer never came. At Voltumna they opted for a white vinification of Sangiovese. They were lucky, but also a great intuition to transform a bad and depressing vintage into a peculiarity. In a year of rotten (marcio in italian) grapes… Marcello was born.
This wine is made of Sangiovese and Pinot Grigio, a strange combination but a wonderful result. Colour in between rose and pink, cloudy. Red berries, yeasts, earthy notes with a good acidity. Slightly effervescent and barely sweet. Alcohol at 11.5% only. Killing drinkability, natural, of course.
Sparkling wine that is excellent as an aperitif, with fish appetizers, to try with a shrimp tempura.
