Good exposure to the sun is important for its good maturity. Susceptible to disease but productive, Duras is often blended with Braucol, Merlot or Syrah.
Duras produces red wines with a higher alcohol content than other grape varieties, with deep color, fine tannins and peppery aromas. It is part of the AOC Côtes-de-Millau, Gaillac and Vins-d'Estaing grape varieties. Constantly growing, its production area now reaches more than a thousand hectares.
