🥂 Tasting Notes
Appearance: Pale yellow with subtle golden reflections, signalling the gentle oak ageing.
Bouquet: Delicate white-flower aromas (think jasmine or acacia), yellow apple, pear, layered with biscuit-like and almond shell nuances and a hint of dried herbs.
Palate: On the palate you’ll find a creamy yet lively texture: ripe orchard fruit (apple/pear), citrus touches (lemon/lime), some honeyed depth but balanced by a fresh minerality and delicate bitter-almond nuance in the finish. The oak is restrained and supportive, the acidity crisp, offering both immediate drinking pleasure and ageing potential.
Food Pairing: Ideal with seafood (grilled monkfish, langoustines), rich vegetable dishes, saffron risotto, soft to semi-hard cheeses.
Region: DOC Rioja Alavesa
Grape & Vinification: 100 % Viura. Grapes grown on clay-limestone soils; direct pressing, indigenous yeast fermentation in stainless steel for the first phase, followed by maturation in 225 L and 500 L French oak barrels (approx. six months), with about 20 % new oak.
Ageing Potential: Whilst accessible now, the structure (acidity + minerality + oak) suggests evolution over the next 5-7 years in good cellaring conditions, with subtle tertiary aromas coming through.
